New animation series from Jim Belushi and new game titles support growth of AtomFilms and Shockwave.com entertainment brands

SAN FRANCISCO - August 22, 2001 - AtomShockwave Corp., a pioneer and leader in delivering world-class entertainment to consumers and businesses, today announced new versions of its award-winning entertainment Web sites, www.atom.com and www.shockwave.com. Both sites have been redesigned to offer a sleek new look and feel, enhanced usability, combined with powerful and innovative advertising opportunities.

Additionally, the sites will deliver a broad range of new entertainment, spanning extreme comedy series, live-action dramas, and multiplayer game titles. The AtomFilms Web site, a leading destination on the Web for world-class film and animation, and now host to Shockwave.com's collection of animated shows, marks the occasion with several high-profile premieres, including Jim Belushi's extreme comedy series The Greedy Show, and the full-length debut of Jeff Lester's live-action comedy The Last Real Cowboys, starring Billy Bob Thornton. The Shockwave.com Web site, a leading destination on the Web for games and interactive entertainment, is debuting Multiplayer Blackjack, an engaging version of the casino classic featuring competition from around the world.

In order to maximize usage of content by their 24 million monthly users, both sites have been redesigned to provide easier access to a broad range of interactive and linear entertainment. The new versions offer fast and easy directory-style navigation, reinforced by persistent positioning links and powerful search functionality on every page. New download areas have also been added to the sites, where users can quickly save selected games and films to their computers and mobile devices.

The updated sites also provide unprecedented opportunities for advertising and sponsorship partners looking to integrate their brands directly into the consumer entertainment experience. In preparation for the launch, AtomShockwaveTM has partnered with iBEAM Broadcasting Corporation and Doubleclick to enable dynamic serving of "streaming pre-roll" advertisements in front of all content on the AtomFilms Web site. With this enhancement, all 35 million monthly content plays across both the Shockwave.com and AtomFilms Web sites are now enabled for short, television-style advertisements that appear prior to games and films. In recent tests on the sites, these "pre-roll" and "pre-play" advertisements have received staggering click-through rates between 5% and 30%.

Sponsors continue to take advantage of the unique integrated branding opportunities both sites provide, including microsites targeted at vertical audiences, content carriage deals, and "brand entertainment" campaigns, in which partner brands and products are incorporated directly into games and films. Advertisers and sponsors currently leveraging this innovative platform include The Ford Motor Company, Levi's Silvertab, Sony PlayStation, SBC Communications, The Gaming Club Online Casino, The River Belle Online Casino, and many more.
