Today marks the release of Beatles: Rock Band. Finally, a video game you can play with your parents! The gap between those who are getting stoned in their basements to play X-box now has been bridged with those who got stoned in their basements to listen to the Beatles then. Koo koo ca chew.

Seriously though, this game looks pretty excellent. For the passed few weeks I’ve walked by the folks at Game Trailers* who have been “testing” the game with envious eyes. Their verdict? It works.

Though the Beatles are pretty good, they don’t hold a candle to the greatest virtual band that never was:

* The guys (and occasional girl, but mostly guys) at Game Trailers and Spike.com share office space with us. It’s a pop-culture cornucopia – or an all out nerd-fest, depending on your perspective.
