  1. Cache-Money Technical Difficulties

UPDATE: This issue has been resolved. All numbers are now accurately being represented on the Tournament page. As you were.

Hey fellow Tournament lovers. You may have noticed that we’ve had exceptionally frustrating refresh rates for your play counts. We are aware of the issue, your views are being accounted for, and should see refreshed play counts in the near future (so the eggheads tell me). Here’s an instructional graphic I found when I googled “cache.”

Well, that clears things up for me!  Bear with us as the page refreshes and stay tuned for some big changes in the leader board!

  2. Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Flashback: Escape From Tatooine

In honor of this years’ Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, we’re looking back over nine years of winning fan movies, and highlighting our favorites. Be sure to get your fan movie in by the June 24th deadline!

Escape From Tatooine is not only a really fun, inventive romp through the Star Wars Universe, but a testament to what you can do with some green fabric, a computer, and time. Whether you’re interested in Special FX, slapstick, or Star Wars, this film is totally worth the time. No wonder it was Star Wars Fan Film Awards George Lucas Selects Recipient 2004. It goes down as one of the great SW fan movies, though it appears that SF Signal appreciates Carbonite Confusion a touch more.   Hit the jump to see all of Escape From Tatooine!

  3. Jackie Chan Beats Up A Bunch Of Kids

Besides from being my new favorite, this clip reminds me of how many Karate Kid rip offs there were in the 90′s. The creators at IGN really took advantage of the wealth of both kiddie-sploitation martial arts films, and the fact that Jackie Chan did about a million movies in the 90′s. Let’s all just enjoy the synchronicity for a moment, and let Jackie pummel some little shit-heads for our amusement.

  4. Tournament Winners Week 8: Champion Edition

Fighting Games: YOU WIN! (thumbs up). Thanks to some awesome promotion on gaming sites and facebook, the dudes at Chicken Fried Comedy have once again taken the top plays prize with over 5 thousand plays. Nice work, dudes.  The “24″ parody  10 min 30 secs by Six Finger Fist took second place, and a cool $250 bucks, followed by resident slam poet/stand up/eccentric old man chicagoalmose in third. The lesson we learned from HOW TO FART AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!?  Nothing beats a great title.

As usual, the top ten were all pretty awesome videos with a good mix of familiar and new faces.  I have a feeling, based on the early numbers and activity on the page, that this current race is going to be even bigger than last week.

    1. Fighting Games by Chicken Fried Comedy (won $500 for Fighting Games, and an additional $750 for Scat Porn)

    2. 10 min 30 secs by Six Finger Fist (won $200 to date)

    3. HOW TO FART AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! by chicagoalmose (won $100 total)

    10. Out to Lunch – Pink Toilet Paper by Out to Lunch

As always, let me know when you upload new videos by posting about it in the Creators Group. I’m always looking for things to promote on the homepage. The guys at Chicken Fried Comedy rallied their friends to earn a Shout-Out and look at them now!

  5. Atom Pick: How To Be Tight

How To Be Tight was an obvious Atom Pick from the get-go. Everyone in the office loved it, and it came straight from long-time Atom favorite Magic Hugs. . Tight gags, great characterization, and spot on graphics put this sketch’s hilarity over the top. Well played, boyzzzzz.

I’d really love to see MTV schedule “Heavy Preggers” or “Hot Old People” next year.

How To Be Tight earned Magic Hugs a cool $500 and a chance to be on Atom TV on Comedy Central. Also, now my breath doesn’t smell like anyone’s asshole. Thanks for the advice, guys!  Hit the jump for a lesson in how to be the sickest, tightest, illest, bombest dude-bro evaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

  6. New Conclusive Evidence That Obama Is In The Whoomp There It Is Video

Our friend Scott Chernoff, remixes pop-culture weirdness (and makes it even weirder) in his new blog series: Smash’d.

Have you heard the latest (and most awesome) conspiracy theory to hit President Obama? The internets and TV news are on fire over Gawker.com’s claim to have spotted Obama in the video for Tag Team’s 1993 rap novelty, I mean classic, “Whoomp! (There It Is).”

This raises several questions, most strikingly: Who was spending their day watching Tag Team videos, and why?

While that mystery may never be solved, I pulled this original cut of the video off YouTube so you can decide for yourself.  The video’s fuzzy, and it’s hard to make out the Obama-lookalike, but if you look hard, and don’t blink, he’s there – and I swear to God that IS President Obama. And by the way, this is a brand new, never-before-seen director’s cut. If you think you’ve already seen the Tag Team video with Obama, take another look, because this version features footage you probably didn’t notice the first time around:

Oh, and if you missed President Obama’s bizarre interview with Larry King last week, check it out here.

  7. The Biggest R2-D2 In The Expanded Universe

Our friends at Yoda News posted about a giant R2-D2 construction Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota. Those crazy college kids!

They should have put that time to better use by entering the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge.

  8. Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Flashback: Carbonite Confusion

In honor of this years’ Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, we’re looking back over nine years of winning fan movies, and highlighting our favorites.

Carbonite Confusion combines two classic films that share a single, grizzled, roughish element. The animation is great and the gag is tight and well played.  Clearly, Ryan Simmons knows what he’s doing, no wonder he won the Best Cross Over Spoof Award. Be sure to check out the challenge page, enter your own films, or hang out with other Star Wars fans!

  9. Shout It All Out – Tomorrow’s Shout-Out Goes To…

Last week we asked you to choose between Fighting Games by Chicken Fried Comedy, Murio’s Bounty 2: Bounty Quest by  VentureTek, and  Macho Pit Stop byYev. We said the video with the most comments would win a Shout-Out. The response from Fighting Games and Macho Pit Stop was so overwhelming, it became apparent that both videos were deserving of Shout-Outs. Starting tomorrow, both will get home page promotion, an Atom swag pack, and the kudos they deserve. Congrats Guys!
