While George Lucas picks his favorite for the George Lucas Selects award, you can have your voice heard with the Audience Choice awards. 3. Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge: Be Patient, Young Jedi

Now that the 2010 Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge submission period has ended, you guys have asked so, so many questions. Here are a few A’s to your Q’s.

    - Don’t worry guys, we’ll add you to the group. As long as you uploaded your film before the deadline (noon, June 24th) you’re fine.

    - We’ll announce finalists on July 22nd. In the meantime we’ll be contacting the finalists.

    - Don’t worry about your upload resolution. If you’re selected as one of the finalists, you’ll be contacted and have the opportunity to maximize your resolution.

    - We will delete any duplicate uploads we need to. DON’T DELETE DUPLICATES YOURSELF. Atom and Lucasfilm are reviewing all the links already, and you don’t want to ruin your chance at being seen, do you? ( I know the answer, and it’s “no”).

  5. The Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Deadline Is Less Than Twelve Parsecs Away

The Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge deadline is tomorrow! Now is the time to get your videos uploaded by June 24th Noon PST if you want to be the next lucky filmmaker to be crowned a “George Lucas Selects” recipient by the big GL himself.  Be sure to consult the challenge info page at StarWars.Atom.com for full information on how to enter. Stick around,  StarWars.Atom.com is the hub for blog posts, community interaction and the voting for the audience choice awards (starting July 22nd).

Too bad these awesome, light-saber-esque Wicked Lasers Spyder Laser III weren’t on the market. I bet they’d really spice up your fan movie*. Thank Yodasnews.com for the awesome heads up on these sweet devices of destruction.

*This is totally a joke. We really, really, really don’t want you running around wielding actual laser swords that can hurt people in the name of anything, let alone a fan movie challenge.  SO DON’T DO IT.

  6. Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Flashback: Silent But Deadly

In honor of this years’ Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, we’re looking back over nine years of winning fan movies, and highlighting our favorites. Be sure to get your fan movie in by the June 24th deadline!

The Deadline is almost here (the 24th) and some really awesome uploads have rolled in thus far. Today, we bring you some old timey Storme Troopers straight out of yer’ favorite cowboy space opera in Silent But Deadly (Get it? It’s a silent movie, but not about farts, but also a fart joke is in the title). This classic was a Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Finalist waaaaay back in 2002.

  7. Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Flashback: For Love Of The Film

In honor of this years’ Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, we’re looking back over nine years of winning fan movies, and highlighting our favorites. Be sure to get your fan movie in by the June 24th deadline!

For Love Of The Film embodies what I love most about the Star Wars community. It’s a film about fans who love a movie together, and join together to participate in its world.  Geroge Lucas must think so too, since he awarded it the Star Wars Fan Movie George Lucas Selects award in 2005. Hit the jump for this Star Wars classic.

  8. Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Flashback: Escape From Tatooine

In honor of this years’ Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, we’re looking back over nine years of winning fan movies, and highlighting our favorites. Be sure to get your fan movie in by the June 24th deadline!

Escape From Tatooine is not only a really fun, inventive romp through the Star Wars Universe, but a testament to what you can do with some green fabric, a computer, and time. Whether you’re interested in Special FX, slapstick, or Star Wars, this film is totally worth the time. No wonder it was Star Wars Fan Film Awards George Lucas Selects Recipient 2004. It goes down as one of the great SW fan movies, though it appears that SF Signal appreciates Carbonite Confusion a touch more.   Hit the jump to see all of Escape From Tatooine!

  9. The Biggest R2-D2 In The Expanded Universe

Our friends at Yoda News posted about a giant R2-D2 construction Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota. Those crazy college kids!

They should have put that time to better use by entering the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge.

  10. Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Flashback: Carbonite Confusion

In honor of this years’ Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, we’re looking back over nine years of winning fan movies, and highlighting our favorites.

Carbonite Confusion combines two classic films that share a single, grizzled, roughish element. The animation is great and the gag is tight and well played.  Clearly, Ryan Simmons knows what he’s doing, no wonder he won the Best Cross Over Spoof Award. Be sure to check out the challenge page, enter your own films, or hang out with other Star Wars fans!
