How to Change Your Domain’s Nameservers in Atom

Published Jun 18, 2026 · Updated Jun 22, 2026

Please follow these steps if you purchased your domain or registered a new domain with Atom. Changing nameservers tells your domain where to find your website and DNS settings (often at a host like Cloudflare, Shopify, Squarespace, etc.).

Before you start: switching nameservers can temporarily affect your website and email if the new DNS provider doesn’t have the right records set up yet.

Step 1: Log in to Atom

  1. Sign in to your Atom account.

  2. Go to Domain Manager under My Domains. (link)

Step 2: Open the domain you want to update

  1. Find the domain in your list.

  2. Click the domain name to open its settings.

Step 3: Select preferred Nameservers

  1. Choose "My Own Nameservers" if you wish to use other service providers.

  2. Click "+Add more servers

  3. Enter nameserver name #1

  4. Repeat 2 and 3 to add all nameservers.

  5. Click "Save"

If everything goes well, you’ll see a “Nameservers saved successfully” message at the top.

Step 4: Wait for changes to propagate

Nameserver updates usually start working quickly, but full propagation can take a few minutes up to 24–48 hours depending on networks and caching.
