Many domain names don’t sell because no one ever sees them.
Not because they’re bad. Not because they’re overpriced. Just because the right buyer never finds them.
That’s something I’ve thought about for years. There are thousands of great domains sitting in marketplaces right now. Short, brandable, full of potential but completely invisible to the people who’d actually love them.
The reason is simple. Search is broken.
Search wasn’t built for how people actually name things
When someone’s looking for a domain, they often don’t know exactly what they want. They’re still shaping the idea. Maybe it’s a product. Maybe a company. Maybe just a broad direction for their brand.
But traditional search forces them to behave like a machine. Type the perfect keyword. Apply a few filters. Hope for the best. As a result, names with the most obvious or generic keywords tend to surface most often, while more original or resonant names stay buried.
If they don’t say the magic word, they never see the right names.
We’d already been working to solve this with smarter filters, better merchandising, and advanced search technology. But we knew we could go further. AI opened the door to something much more intuitive, something that meets people where they are in the creative process.
So we decided to build something different.
A more natural way to find the right name
Over the past few months, we’ve been working on an AI-powered search assistant that helps you find a domain by talking through what you’re building, the same way you’d explain it to a friend, a co-founder, or a brand strategist.

You can say something like, “I am launching a food delivery app for urban cities”.
The assistant doesn’t just pull up names with the word “Delivery” or “Urban.” It listens. It thinks. It returns curated, on-tone names that actually fit the direction.
Then it might follow up with, “Would you prefer a bold, modern name, or something more playful”
That back-and-forth completely changes the experience. It helps buyers get clear on what they’re looking for, even if they didn’t know it when they started typing.
And once you’ve found a name you like, there’s more.
A deeper discovery experience
If a name grabs your attention, just click on More like this. The assistant will instantly pull up 100 other names that share a similar style and underlying meaning – not just keyword matches, but real semantic connections.
What’s more, the suggestions for similar names are also tailored to your specific context – say, a name for a food delivery app. You can even adjust that context to get options that are even more aligned with what you’re looking for.
It’s especially helpful when you’re close to the right name but not quite there and want to explore other ideas with the same tone and feel.

You can also click on Why this works for any name. The assistant will give you a personalized explanation of why that name is a good fit, based on everything you’ve said in your conversation so far. It connects the dots between your intent and the name itself, which makes the whole experience feel less random and a lot more aligned.
Why this matters
If you’re a buyer, this means you don’t have to guess what to search for anymore. Just describe your idea in your own words, and let the system help guide you.
If you’re a seller, it means your domains finally have a chance to show up for the people they were made for. Not just because they hit a keyword, but because they match the buyer’s actual intent.
This is the kind of domain discovery we’ve always wanted to see, and we’re excited to finally bring it to life.
Try it now, live in beta
We just opened up the beta today. It’s still evolving, and we’re learning from every interaction, but it already feels like a huge leap forward from what domain search has looked like until now.
You can try it here:

We built this because we believe naming should feel less like guesswork and more like creativity in motion. It’s not the final version but it’s the first step in setting a strong foundation for what comes next.
