Our Journey So Far
I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved with Squadhelp over the past decade. The company was based on the simple vision that naming a venture shouldn’t be hard, something I still very much believe.
I launched Squadhelp as a bootstrapped business, initially focusing on the power of crowdsourcing to help entrepreneurs find names for their ventures. Over time, our passion and our willingness to embrace change and challenge the status quo allowed us to grow the business into something much more than a crowdsourced naming platform.
Over the years we’ve been recognized as one of Inc Magazine’s most innovative startups, we made the Inc 5000 list three years in a row, we helped 50,000+ clients complete inspired naming projects, and we worked with businesses like Nestle, Dell, Phillips, Hilton, and Kellogs, among others.
Five years ago, we launched our domain marketplace as a secondary naming option, hoping it would become a small part of our still largely squad-powered crowdsourcing business.
As you probably know, it hugely outperformed these expectations, quickly becoming the primary growth driver for our business. Squadhelp became home to a premium, expert-curated domain marketplace as well as an ultra-premium marketplace selling some of the most valuable digital assets currently available. While crowdsourced naming contests will always be a part of what we offer, Squadhelp transformed over the years, and we’re not done yet.
Last year, Squadhelp partnered with Hilco for strategic investment, kicking off an exciting period of growth.
As we begin our next phase of development, choosing a name and domain that provides a strong foundation is crucial.
That’s why Squadhelp is now Atom: where everything starts.
Why Rebrand?
There are many reasons for this rebrand. After helping thousands of clients, we understand the “whys” of rebranding and renaming better than most.
In our case, becoming Atom is primarily about reaching our potential.
Squadhelp was a great name for what we used to focus on exclusively – crowdsourcing business names with the help of a huge creative community – but we now offer much more and we have a fairly significant roadmap for expansion.
By choosing a powerful ultra-premium domain, we’re betting on ourselves and taking the exact advice we give our clients, ultimately leading by example. Here are just a few reasons we chose Atom.com as our new home and Atom as our new name:
- Domains matter: As a naming platform and domain marketplace, we know how important a domain is to overall success. We’re proving this with Atom.com.
- More authority, more trust, more sales: A memorable, powerful name is simply more trustworthy than the alternatives. Trust leads to brand loyalty and buzz, all adding up to more sales and a thriving brand.
Under the Atom banner, we will build a strong brand that aligns with what we do and embark on a journey to becoming a B2B household name.
What Does Atom Mean
We considered hundreds of name ideas for this rebrand. Doing justice to what we’ve built and making space for what the brand will become proved a tall order. We followed a structured methodology including a very significant Audience Test to lead us, ultimately, to Atom.com. Here are just a few of the reasons we are now Atom:
- Atoms are the creative material of the universe
- Atoms are powerful
- The atom signifies innovation
In other words, Atoms are the building blocks of everything, and Atom.com will soon provide the building blocks of every great startup.
Atom will be a startup ecosystem designed to provide everything founders need to build and launch a new brand or grow an existing brand – starting with the perfect domain.
What is Atom for Startups and Ventures?
As we expand Atom, we’re not abandoning anything already offered by Squadhelp. Instead, we will build on the current capabilities of our platform, improving our domain marketplaces and adding new features that will help founders choose the perfect name and domain for their startup or venture.
Under the Atom umbrella, we will also add further naming and branding tools designed to maximize the potential of startups. Our roadmap includes plans for expanded creative services, IP and trademark protection, domain management, customer insight opportunities, advanced branding tools, and much more.
What is Atom for Creatives?
Atom will expand what Squadhelp has offered for the past decade. We aim to launch several new offerings that will enhance and grow our creative services.
For our creative community, this means more opportunities to participate on the platform, and more Atom clients looking for excellent creative input. We’ve always been passionate about the community we built at Squadhelp, and with Atom we’re doubling down on that passion.
What is Atom for Domain Sellers?
Atom will take domain exposure to the next level, capitalizing on the current success of our platform to create new sales avenues for Atom-listed domains. We plan to launch a fairly significant distribution network for domains which will allow us to push the domain exposure to new heights.
Our roadmap includes several new selling tools, strategic partnerships as well as domain management capabilities that will ultimately benefit our seller community.
As we become the epicenter of the startup community and build an ever-stronger brand, more people will consider Atom as their initial destination for launching their business, resulting in significantly more domain sales via our Marketplace.
As Atom, we’re looking to the future. We’re excited to build a brand that makes a true impact, and we can’t wait to see Atom-built startups thrive. This is just the beginning.
