This WHOIS / Registration Data Policy (“Policy”) explains how Atom Registrar (“Atom”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, displays, retains, and discloses domain registration data in compliance with ICANN’s Registration Data Policy (RDP) and applicable data protection laws. This Policy applies to all domain names registered through Atom, whether or not the registrant enables Privacy or Proxy Services.
1. Purpose and Scope
ICANN requires accredited registrars to collect and maintain specific data about each registered domain name. This information supports the security, stability, and integrity of the domain name system (DNS). Atom processes this data for lawful and legitimate purposes including domain registration, transfer, renewal, verification, abuse prevention, and compliance with ICANN and registry policies.
2. Data We Collect
For each domain registration, we collect the following data elements as required by ICANN and the relevant registry operator:
All information is stored securely and processed according to this Policy.
Annual Contact-Data Reminder. Once per year, Atom sends registrants a reminder to review and correct their registration contact data. If any information is inaccurate, you must update it promptly through your account.
3. Data Display (WHOIS / RDAP Output)
Atom publishes limited domain registration data through the Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) and, where applicable, legacy WHOIS service. In compliance with ICANN’s RDP, Atom redacts personal data from public output by default. Publicly displayed data typically includes:
Full contact details are not displayed unless required by registry policy or applicable law.
Registrar Abuse Contact in RDDS. Atom displays the Registrar Abuse Contact Email and Phone in all public RDDS (WHOIS/RDAP) responses. Specifically, our WHOIS output includes the lines “Registrar Abuse Contact Email” and “Registrar Abuse Contact Phone,” and our RDAP output exposes an abuse contact entity containing the same values.

Requests for access must be submitted in writing to legal@atom.com with supporting documentation. Atom will review and respond promptly and in good faith, consistent with applicable law.
6. Data Retention
Atom retains registration data for the duration of the domain registration and for at least two (2) years after the domain’s expiration or deletion, as required by ICANN’s RAA §3.4. Retention beyond this period may occur where legally required or necessary to resolve disputes or enforce agreements.
7. Data Accuracy
You must provide accurate and current registration data and promptly update it when changes occur. Atom may request verification of contact data at any time. Failure to respond or maintain accurate data may result in suspension or cancellation of the domain name under ICANN’s Whois Accuracy Program Specification.
8. Security and Data Protection
Atom uses technical and organizational safeguards to protect registration data against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, or disclosure. These include encryption, access control, and audit logging. Atom employees and contractors are bound by confidentiality and data‑protection obligations.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Requests can be submitted to privacy@atom.com. Atom will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law.
10. Cross‑Border Data Transfers
As part of the domain registration process, data may be transmitted to registry operators or data escrow providers located in other jurisdictions, including outside your country of residence. Atom ensures such transfers are protected by appropriate contractual and security measures.
