Over the past few months, we’ve been quietly testing a new way to discover domains.
Today, Domain Hunter is officially out of private beta and open to all sellers on Atom.
Alongside this release, we’re also introducing Featured Lists – a structured way to explore curated domain opportunities across drops, auctions, closeouts, and hand registrations.
The Problem
Finding strong, investable domains is not a lack-of-supply problem.
It’s a discovery problem.
Most workflows today involve:
- Going through long drop lists
- Filtering multiple auction platforms
- Reviewing hundreds of domains where only a small fraction are worth considering
The opportunity exists, but the process to get there is inefficient.
A Different Approach
Domain Hunter is designed to narrow the field.
Instead of manually scanning large datasets, it uses a combination of:
- AI models trained on brandability patterns
- Historical sell-through rate (STR) data
- Real buyer behavior across the Atom marketplace
It continuously:
- Generates available brandable domain names
- Scans recent drops across registrars
- Tracks expiring auctions and closeouts
- Evaluates domains based on multiple quality signals
The result is not a list of everything — but a filtered stream of candidates.
Introducing Featured Lists
To make this easier to navigate, we’ve introduced Featured Lists — a structured way to explore domain opportunities across different sources and categories.
These lists organize opportunities into focused groups:
- Expiring Auctions — domains currently in auction, ranked by opportunity
- Closeouts — lower-priced domains with strong brand potential
- Available Hand Registrations — newly generated and filtered names
Featured Lists pull from multiple sources, including:
- GoDaddy Auctions
- GoDaddy Closeouts
- Dynadot Auctions
- Dynadot Closeouts
- Atom Wholesale
- Atom Auctions
We’ll continue expanding this over time as more sources are added.
Each list is updated daily, with fresh domains added and older ones cycling out — creating a continuously refreshed view of what’s worth attention.
The goal is not to present a static dataset, but to create a continuously refreshing view of what’s worth attention.
Daily Hand-Reg Drops
For available domains, we’ve introduced a more structured release.
Each day at 9 AM CT, a new batch of hand-reg opportunities is published.
These names are:
- Generated and filtered using Domain Hunter
- Evaluated for brandability and commercial use
- Immediately available for registration
Users can secure these domains instantly using 1-click registration.
To give active participants a timing advantage, early access to these drops is available to:
At 12 PM CT, any remaining domains are released to all sellers.
This creates a simple system:
- early access for active users
- broad availability shortly after
From Discovery to Action
Finding a domain is only useful if you can act on it quickly.
Domain Hunter is integrated directly with the Atom registrar to reduce friction:
- Register domains instantly with 1-click
- Use account balance for faster checkout and no card processing fees
- Avoid switching between multiple platforms
The focus is on reducing the gap between:
finding a domain → securing it
What We Observed in Private Beta
During testing, a few consistent patterns emerged:
- High-quality domains tend to get picked up quickly
- Timing plays a meaningful role in outcomes
- Even small improvements in filtering lead to better results
This shaped how Domain Hunter and Featured Lists were designed — as systems that prioritize speed, relevance, and clarity.
Still Early
This is the first version of Domain Hunter.
We plan to continue improving:
- Ranking and scoring models
- List structure and prioritization
- Integration with buyer and marketplace data
As with most things on Atom, this will evolve based on how it’s used.
